My students did well at Certificate of Merit on-line this year.
Sarah Parigela placed third in the American Protege Concerto Competition and has been invited to perform Lalo’s Symphonie Espagnole at Carnegie Hall.
Many thanks to superb violinist Lorenz Gamma for sharing his knowledge of music and violin playing with my students. His eloquence and kind nature brought out the best in these brave young artists, and it was a joy to hear such fine music.
Seven year old Magnolia Liu placed 2nd in the Musical Arts Competition of Orange County, and 3rd in the Lansum International Competition.
Congratulations to Maiya Kothari and Emma Wang for their acceptance to the highly selective Orange County School of the Arts. In addition, Maiya will be attending Interlochen Center for the Arts, and Emma will be touring Europe with the South Coast Youth Symphony Orchestra.
I am thrilled for my graduating seniors, and for the colleges they have chosen. Julia Wang is headed to Yale, Wesley King is going to UCLA, and Isabella Sorensen (not pictured) is off to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. These brilliant students have worked hard in all aspects of their education and community service to achieve the highest honors.
Pacific Symphony’s new concertmaster Dennis Kim is not only an outstanding violinist and leader, but also an inspiring and energetic teacher.
Andres Cardenes performing Vivaldi Concerto for four Violins with former students and members of Pacific Symphony, Dana Freeman, Nancy Eldridge, and MarlaJoy Weisshaar. This sold-out fundraiser for Tapestry UU included a four-course dinner, a short master class, and music by Mozart, Kreisler, and Ysaye.
Evette Chung was sizzling at St. Margaret's Cabaret Concert, with Vivaldi's "Winter." She received many college acceptance letters, and has chosen Boston University, with a full scholarship.
Katrina Butorac is headed to Chapman University, also with a large scholarship, to major in piano and conducting. Lyndsey Lipscomb is thrilled to start Orange County School of the Arts in August, and Bailey Woods just returned from tour in Chicago as Principal 2nd of the Tesoro Chamber Orchestra.
Julia Wang won the concerto competition with Saint-Saens concerto in b minor. She is also concertmaster of the Orange County Youth Symphony Orchestra as well as the Orange County School of the Arts Symphony Orchestra.
