Hungarian violinist Peter Mezo was born in 1982 to a family of rich musical tradition. His father, cellist Laszlo Mezo, is the cellist of the esteemed Bartok String Quartet, and head of the Cello Department at Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest.  At the age of 16, Peter won third prize at the prestigious János Koncz Violin Competition in 1998 when there was no first prize. 

Peter Mezo holds a master’s degree in violin performance from the Franz Liszt Academy of Music from the studios of Professor Eszter Perényi and Professor Géza Kapás, another master’s degree in String Quartet Performance from the Basel University of Music in Switzerland, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Pécs in Hungary. He has also participated in the master classes of violinists Stephan Ruha and Olivier Pons. Since 2012, Mr. Mezo has been a professor of chamber music and string quartet at his alma mater, the Franz Liszt Academy of Music.

Peter Mezo’s musical career took a turn when in 2001 he co-founded the Accord Quartet. They gained recognition quickly with first prize at the Leó Weiner Hungarian National Chamber Music Competition in 2003; the Thomastik-Infeld Award in 2002, the Kodály Award in 2003, and the Bartók Award in 2004 from the Vienna-Budapest-Prague International Summer Music Academy; the Hungarian National Contemporary Music Artisjus Award in 2006, first prize at the International Brahms Competition in Pörtschach, Austria in 2009, and the Junior Prima Award of Hungary in 2010.

The program will include Bach Solo Sonata in g minor, Romanian Folk Dances by Bartok,

 de Beriot Concerto #9, Lalo Symphonie Espagnole, and Wieniawski Concerto in d minor.
